(dramatic act based on Vasily Shukshin short stories and inspired by Federico Fellini art)

What can a Siberian and an Italian villager have in common? What brings them closer and what pulls apart? We may think all they have in common are rakes and shovels, but this is just a stereotype. In our view, they are very similar, almost like twin brothers: they breathe, suffer, hate and love the same way. Vasily Shukshin in New York is a rare treat and coupled with Federico Fellini’s genius, it becomes exclusive. STEPS Theatre uses an eclectic approach as a means to grasp the complex nature of "Shukshin's simplicity" and Felinni's polysemy".

Without any pretenses, just to listen to the diatribe of the melancholy long-legged clown, we are transported to the world of a faraway Russian seaside city. A planner named Cherednichenko falls in love at a resort. Adapted from the story, Cherednichenko and the Circus, we experience the lives of multiple characters, all of whom are mostly alone, and mostly unhappy. All of them fantasize about a distant, more beautiful life that they may never attain. The audience watches these stories unfold, every persona shown through the lens of a despondent Italian clown.
